Tampon Taboo
When you hear that 1 in 10 girls aged 14-21 can’t afford menstrual products or that schoolgirls are resorting to using socks when they’re on their period - it makes your blood boil. Knowing that period poverty is all too real, I launched a personal internal campaign speaking to those who face the continued stigma of having a monthly cycle and menstrual inequality. In aid of supporting the charity Bloody Good Period, myself and an Art Director launched a mockumentary film on International Women's Day, exposing the uncomfortable truth of having your period in the office. Its title? Tampon Taboo.
With next to no budget and in the space of a just a couple of weeks, I crafted a concept, drafted a killer script and teamed up with an Art Director who storyboarded the narrative. Our vision turned into reality, as we filmed the racy rouge piece in just six hours - a huge amount of work that we remarkably managed to achieve.
Aptly launched on International Women's Day, our Tampon Taboo film was published across social and received immense recognition among women's charities and forums. The film racked up 20k views on the first day alone alongside press features in notable publications such as Bloom UK, The Other Box, Dawn, She Magazine and Creative Equals. This film certainly stands out as one of my most proud projects.
