Hennessy

Launching a unique chatbot driving conversation was the ask for Hennessy's premium offering, Hennessy XO. The aim was to install a fun and playful user-experience where cognac lovers and others could immerse and learn about their history, cocktails and drinking XO on ice. 

Needing to entice the user, a 'hook' was needed within the UX. The goal was to craft a universe which didn't mirror a website, but instead offered a tailored and immersive experience. As such, I developed a 'character' who was an expert brand ambassador, guiding the user throughout the experience. Building an iconic tone of voice was key to bringing this 'character' to life, and so I created an ambassador which symbolised the spirit of the Hennessy brand - slick and suave. 

Like a true Copywriter, I put pen-to-paper in an ever-growing 'post-it' UX plan began to branch out into several chatbot experiences from finding your perfect cocktail, to watching a tutorial on making a classic Sidecar cocktail. What's more? With dark markets at play, it was essential that the conversations were shaped so that they didn't break any French alcohol laws.


The chatbot was rolled out across Facebook Messenger in 2018 through and delivered a one-of-a-kind experience for Hennessy XO and its drinkers alike.
